National Education Agreement 2009

An agreement on the establishment of a national regulatory system for all heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes, consisting of uniform legislation managed by a single national regulator. The COAG Reform Council, established by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG), is responsible for helping COAG promote its national reform agenda. It will do so by strengthening accountability for results through independent, evidence-based monitoring, evaluation and reporting on the performance of all governments. This document is one of the first two complementary annual reports on the performance of Australian governments in achieving the objectives of the new national agreements. As part of the National Education Agreement, Australian governments have agreed to cooperate so that all Australian students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to participate effectively in society and employment in a global economy. This report provides a comparative analysis of the baseline indicator data to track governments` performance in line with the five outcomes of the agreement. The content is: introduction; National Agreement on Education; The performance context report on results – the commitment and benefits of school education, literacy and computing power, international excellence, education and transition to work and education, achievement of COAG`s goals; Improve the performance reporting framework. The Northern Australia Indigenous Development Agreement (the agreement) is an intergovernmental agreement to promote indigenous economic development as an important part of the Northern Development Agenda. The Agreement recognizes that Aboriginal participation in the economy is essential to fully achieving the development of Northern Australia and provides a framework for cooperation and an individual framework for cooperation between governments to promote aboriginal economic development in northern Australia. An agreement on the establishment of a national system of regulation and investigation of rail safety, including a single regulation and a single national regulatory authority for rail safety, complemented by a national rail safety monitor.

Intergovernmental agreements facilitating payments to states and national agreements under the Intergovernmental Agreement on Federal Financial Relations are available on the federal financial relations council`s website.
